Who is responsible for your information
Blackburn IT Services Limited, trading as bbits, is the controller for information submitted through this website. It is registered in England and Wales under company number 03699262. Its registered office is 2 Upperton Gardens, Eastbourne, East Sussex, BN21 2AH.
What we collect and why
We collect your name, email address, optional organisation and the message you choose to send. We use this information to understand, route and respond to your enquiry, protect the contact channel from misdirected public reports and maintain the security of the service.
We process this information with your consent and, where relevant, for our legitimate interests in operating a secure and effective business contact service. You can withdraw consent, but this does not affect processing already carried out.
Automated enquiry classification
Clear enquiries are classified by rules within the website. If an enquiry is uncertain, a minimised version of its message, whether an organisation was supplied and a broad email-domain type may be sent securely to OpenAI through its business API solely to classify the enquiry. The visitor’s name, full email address and organisation name are not included. Email addresses, phone numbers and UK postcodes found in the message are removed before that request. The automated result only helps route the enquiry; it does not make a legal or similarly significant decision about the visitor.
OpenAI states that API inputs and outputs are not used to train its models by default. The request is made with response storage disabled. Under OpenAI’s standard API controls, content may still be retained in abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days unless enhanced retention controls have been enabled for the bbits API project.
Sharing and international processing
We use service providers to host the website, classify uncertain enquiries and deliver messages. They process information for bbits under their contractual and security obligations. Some processing may take place outside the UK; where it does, bbits relies on the safeguards required by applicable data-protection law.
Retention and your rights
We keep contact enquiries only for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, manage the resulting business relationship, meet legal obligations and protect the service. Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to access, correct, erase or restrict your information, object to processing, withdraw consent and request a portable copy.
